Great Internet Time Wasters

If you’re boring and you have access to a computer there are lots of great time wasting options to make the day fly. Here are just a few of my favorite things to do on the internet to waste time (and sometimes, maybe even learn something):

Canabalt

Canabalt is a very simple game. You can play the game even if you only have one finger. The premise of the game is simple and awesome. When you hit start, you see a man jumping out of a window and running as fast as he can along the rooftops. You hit the space bar to jump when you reach the end of the roof. That’s it. The farther you run and survive the higher your score. Sometimes there are bombs that drop on you. The artwork and music are great and really add to the atmosphere of escape at all costs. Try it today and you’ll be hooked.

Allmusic.com

I’m a huge music nerd and so allmusic.com is my Bible. I can spend hours jumping around from genre to genre or album to album, seeing what the reviewers wrote about my favorite record and what star rating they gave it to discovering brand new artists and music through connections to other bands I love. The beauty of allmusic is that everything is somehow connected through a giant tree and branches of genres and producers and writers and other credits. You can even sample clips of many of the songs on the popular albums listed. Check it out and I’m sure you will discover what could be your new favorite band.

Facebook

There is a reason why Facebook is one of the top most visited websites in the world. People love snooping and finding out what their friends or relatives are doing and Facebook is the number one stalker website. Facebook is great for seeing pictures from your friend’s party or finding out what movies your cousin likes or what color mustang seats your brother-in-law installed but it can also be dangerously intrusive so make sure you customizes your Facebook settings to only allow those you approve as friends to see your profile. Also remember that Facebook is often one of the top search results when people Google your name so try to keep it professional if you are applying for jobs.
